This week was The Thirty-Second Annual Frederick Law Awards Luncheon put on by the Women's Committee and Board of Trustees of The Central Park Conservancy. I was excited to make my 9th year of attendance to the luncheon this week. Although it nearly didn't happen. As many of you know, I have been very sick since January when I contracted salmonella poisoning (along with my 8 year-old daughter and husband - my other two children and parents were spared) on a trip to the Curtain Bluff resort in Antigua New Year's week. As of this week, three hospitalizations and an emergency surgery later -- with hospital bills so far totaling over $100,000 as of today (5/9/14, wow...) - I am just starting to return to normal. I never knew how tough salmonella could be on a body! On a happier note, it was nice to don a dress and hat enjoy a tour of the beautiful Conservatory Garden on a gorgeous Spring day, followed by a Champagne reception under the pergola and then lunch under the tent. This year's luncheon attracted over 1,200 women and raised $3.5 million for Central Park. New York City's 108th mayor, Michael Bloomberg, was honored and received a standing ovation.
