Calling all angels. The Michael sculpture depicts a lithe, relaxed male figure. Arms akimbo, he looks downward introspectively. A raised hip accents his angularity and otherworldliness in a pose punctuated by large, gloriously shimmering wings. The high-relief modeling adds pathos, vitality, and emotion to the composition-but also a glittering surface that captures and reflects vibrating light. Gilt iron. Black marble.
