Card Playing was a popular distraction in 18th-century Williamsburg. Records show tavern keepers purchased as many as six dozen packs at a time from the Printing Office. Each deck was printed on heavy paper with woodblocks, and face cards were painted by hand. This charming pillow is based on a circa-1765 deck in the collections of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Licensed by The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in 2006. The pillow measures 12" X 12".
